Tyler, along with his sister, was born and raised in Livingston, Tennessee, which is a small town of about 4000 people. Livingston is located near Cookeville, TN, which is similar to Cape Girardeau in size and in population.

Before becoming a Physicians Assistant, Tyler and his sister, who is a clinical pharmacist, worked in a retail pharmacy for one year.

Tyler was inspired to become a PA after his father became highly ill. Although the providers gave him excellent care, the lack of compassion or explanations for their methods drove him to pursue a career in healthcare. He wants to ensure that patients always feel like their providers care about them, and will take the extra time to ensure that they understand their diagnosis and the methods and reasoning behind their chosen treatment.

He describes his bedside manner as bringing an understanding and empathy with a focus on communication, while maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere. Tyler strives to ensure that he comprehensively understands the patient and formulates a plan to ensure that the patient understands the cause of the problem and the treatments that are available to them at Regional Brain and Spine.

Tyler describes that his best quality as a Physicians Assistant is understanding and listening to the patient. He feels that these two qualities are the most important as a provider. These two traits serve him well because it allows him to ensure that he understands what the patient is telling him instead of merely being told the problem.

The aspect Tyler enjoys the most is meeting the unique people that are his patients and providing them with the best possible care. It is extremely satisfying to be able to help people that desperately need it and be able to see them have a successful recovery.

Some of his hobbies and interests include canoeing, hiking, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family and being an active member of his church. Tyler supports a charity that helps with Marine families in need.
