Dan Johnstone, PA-C
Board Certified: Physician Assistant
Trevecca Nazarene University
Master of Science in Medicine – Physician Assistant Program
Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences – Respiratory Care Emphasis
Dan, along with his sister, was raised in a small town in Southwestern Ohio. Dan describes it as a very similar setting to Cape Girardeau, minus the university. Some of his teenage years he also lived in Colorado. He attended college in Tennessee. Dan’s sister is now married and starting a family of their own and he loves being an uncle to his new niece.
Dan shared he chose a career in medicine as he saw it as a great avenue to be able to help people with their physical needs while reflecting the love that Christ has shown him. He plans to continue volunteering in Medical Missions as time and opportunities allow.
Dan describes his bedside manner as one of listening and caring. He believes it to be vitally important to listen carefully to patients as they describe their medical problems while making sure he provides feedback to assure them he has understood how they have been affected by their health problems.
Prior to coming to Regional Brain and Spine Dan was a respiratory therapist for 3 years. Dan believes this previous medical experience prepared him well for the transition into his surgical Physician Assistant role here at RBS.
When Dan is not at work he really enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, paintball, and mountain biking. He also loves playing in league basketball. As shared above, Dan has a heart for and plans to continue in the volunteer work of Medical Missions. Most recently he has been involved with Agape to the Nations. With this organization he had the opportunity to travel to Gonaives, Haiti and meet and help some amazing children at a local orphanage.
